Frost Nixon (2008)

213) Frost/Nixon (2008)

A dramatic retelling of the post-Watergate television interviews between British talk-show host David Frost and former president Richard Nixon.

8/10 – I don’t remember this event being as significant as the film makes it out to be when I studied US Politics at University, nevertheless it’s still fun to watch. Of the videos I have seen of Nixon, Frank Langella’s performance is convincing to the extent that you forget you’re watching a remake – but not in terms of appearance. He absolutely embodies the persona and mannerisms of Nixon, and it is simply captivating. Ron Howard does well to make this film into something watchable and entertaining, and Martin Sheen sounds and behaves exactly like a younger David Frost – it’s uncanny. That being said, it’s inaccurate and the event is not really that significant, but the casting and execution of this film is probably why it is held in such high regard and goes a long way to explain why it is so highly entertaining.
