The Village at the End of the World (2012)

208) Village At The End Of The World (2012)

Lars is the only teenager in town who, in a community of hunters doesn’t want to hunt. Niaqornat in North West Greenland has a population of only 59, with no local industry people are being forced to leave to find jobs in the nearest town. Whilst the rest of the community pull together to try and re-open the fish-factory, Lars begins to plan his escape.

6/10 – An interesting documentary, but nothing revolutionary. It’s main draw will be that it gives exposure to an area of the world that has almost been forgotten, and is rarely known. It’s insightful and you warm to the inhabitants, it moves along at a leisurely pace but it’s difficult to keep focus.

Word of warning; Subtitles, and scenes of whale & seal killing.
